About Us

EnI - Europe of new Ideas e.V. - is a network of people who speak up for an increasing European thinking within the societies of Europe.

We support the European dimension of most manifold questions within society and culture: there are many fields of sensible analysis with the European dimension - weather it is a matter of economic and social policies or of other fields of policy, a matter of a European code of values, a matter of learning from a common history, a matter of the philosophical spirit of a continent or art.

We are convinced that it is important to reflect and to discuss the European questions: how could a European economic policy be designed, how its achievements could look like and are we in a position to claim for it? How are we supposed to understand 'European values' and what are they about? To what extent Europeans are able to learn from their history? To what extent during the last centuries political, social and economic ideas have led the unification or separation of Europeans? Does a kind of 'European music' exist and - if that is the case - what is it known for?

Those questions initiate the enforcement of a new intellectual European horizon. We intend to open the gates to that horizon with an emphasis on the fact that you think 'European' and not what you think European: someone is tackling the Constitution of the European Union, someone else is thinking about the cultural variety of the European nations rejecting central institutions and cultural standardization. As economist someone is interested in economic relationships, someone else in the common heritage of enlightenment.
